DIY Dreamcatcher Earrings

This is a very simple tutorial of how to make dreamcatcher earrings.

Questo è un tutorial super semplice per realizzare degli orecchini tipo dreamcatcher (l'acchiappasogni). 

materials nedeed:

il materiale che vi serve è:

1. vinyl glue - colla vinilica

2. cotton thread - filo di cotone 

3. wire - filo metallico di qualsiasi colore, tanto poi verrà coperto

4. pliers/wire cutters - pinze

5. a tool on which you can wrap the wire to make a little circle - uno strumento su cui avvolgere il filo per dargli la forma tonda.

6. a thinner cotton thread - filo più sottile per la lavorazione al centro.

7. beads - perline

8. feathers (I udes fimo feathers) - piume, io le ho fatte in fimo, ma potete anche prendere quelle vere

9. jump rings - anellini

10. earwire (fish hook earring findings) - monachelle (gli orecchini)

first, you have to make a little ring with the wire, using a tool. Then you have to tie the cotton thread to the wire ring, with a double knot.

per prima cosa fate un cerchietto, della dimensione che preferite, avvolgendolo sullo strumento che avete scelto. Poi prendete il filo di cotone e attaccatelo al cerchietto facendo un nodo, o doppio nodo, vedete voi.

Then brush some vinyl glue on the knot, so it cannot untie.

Don't worry about the colour of the glue, because when it dries it became transparent.

Now you have to wrap the cotton thread tightly around your ring.

in seguito, con la colla vinilica "sporcate" il nodo, così quando taglierete il filo in più il nodo non si scioglierà. Non preoccupatevi per il colore bianco della colla, perchè una volta asciutta diventerà trasparente.

Iniziate quindi ad avvolgere il filo tutto in torno al cerchio.

Once the ring is covered with the cotton thread, you have to make an other knot and brush it with the glue.

Una volta che il cerchio è stato ricoperto, fate un altro nodo e fissatelo anche questo con la colla.

Now you have to start to weave your dreamcatcher. Please watch this video for all the instruction about the weaving, at minute 4.35.

Ora dobbiamo iniziare a fare la lavorazione interna. Mi veniva molto difficile fotografare tutto il processo, quindi vi consiglio di guardare questo video. Dal minuto 4.35.

When the weaving is finished, tie tightly a piece of cotton thread under the dreamcatcher, and add the beads. Brush again the knot with the glue, each knot need to be blocked with glue.

Quando avete finito la lavorazione, attaccate con un nodino un pezzo di filo dove metterete le perline, e bloccatelo sempre con la colla. Qualsiasi nodo che fate bloccatelo con la colla.

After the beads,add the feather, my feathers have a little hole in which I passed a jump ring, then I tied the jump ring to the cotton thread.

Make the other three strands. Then add a jump ring at the top of the dreamcatcher and add also the earwire.

Inserite le perline, e quando avete finito attaccate anche la piuma. Le mie piume avevano un buchino per far passare un anellino, che poi ho legato al filo sempre con un doppio nodo. Fare poi gli altri tre fili con le perline. Infine mettete un anellino sopra al dreamcatcher per poi infilare la monachella. 

E questo è il risultato:

To make an earring it takes about half an hour.

If you find it difficult to weave the dreamcatcher with your own fingers, use tweezers.

Probably I made a lot of mistake, sorry, but I'm Italian.

é un lavoro un po' lungo, ci vuole sicuramente mezzora per ogni orecchino. 

Se non riuscite a far passare il filo (nella lavorazione interna) con le mani, perchè gli spazi sono davvero ridotti, aiutatevi con una pinzetta.
